Short films will be shown on over 300 screens in Germany on 21.12.2018. From the North Sea island of Spiekeroog to Constance on Lake Constance there will be events – in cinemas, clubhouses, shops, cultural centres and house communities, large and small audiences will gather to watch short films together.

With this year’s motto “Stadt.Land.Fluss” (means city- country- river), AG Kurzfilm, as the organiser of the nationwide event, is committing itself to cinemas and short films in the countryside. The distributors interfilm Berlin and KurzFilmAgentur Hamburg have taken up the theme and put together short film programmes that celebrate their premiere on the shortest day of the year. The Short Film Day 2018 also has two other premieres to offer: “Kita-Kino” gives 3 to 6-year-olds the chance for the first time to discover the wonderful world of short films together with their peers – either in the cinema or in their kindergarten. In addition to the youngsters, senior citizens are also invited for the first time to watch short films on the shortest day through the “Senioren-Kino” initiative.

Actress Zazie de Paris, director Doris Dörrie, actors Thomas Thieme and Edin Hasanovic, extreme climber Stefan Glowacz, pop band Blond as well as cabaret artist and video blogger Moritz Neumeier also love short film and therefore support the Short Film Day, among others with very personal ambassador clips.
