The Palm Springs International ShortFest celebrates its 25th anniversary this year – the festival in California has become the most important short film festival in North America. Palm Springs is also an important industry meeting point with its affiliated sections ShortFest Forum and ShortFest Market.

Traditionally Palm Springs is also a good place for German short films – every year a number of German short films are invited to the competitions. A total of around 325 short films will be screened in the festival programme – 12 of these competition films this year come from Germany or are German co-productions: CHAOS by Samuel Auer (dffb), EVA SOLO by Lara Rodríguez Cruz (Germany/Spain), FAR OUT by Jan-Peter Horstmann (Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf), LAKE OF HAPPINESS by Aliaksei Paluyan (Germany/Belarus), DRÜBENLAND by Arne Kohlweyer, MARADONNA’S LEGS by Firas Khoury (Germany/Palestine), MENUETT by Felix Karoulis, NOSIS by Vincenz Neuhaus (Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf), PACE by Kai Stänicke, JEMAND UND NIEMAND by Joscha Douma, SUMMER HIT Berthold Wahjudi as well as TOUCH ME Eileen Byrne (Germany/Luxembourg).
