The video-on-demand platform Festival Scope presents a selection of 7 short films from the Cannes Quinzaine des Réalisateurs 2021.

Among the films are: The coming-of-age drama WHEN NIGHT MEETS DAWN by Andreea Cristina Borțun (ROM). The animated film THE WINDSHIELD WIPER by Alberto Mielgo (ES), who has worked for Disney as Artistic Director, among others. The family tragedy THE PARENTS’ ROOM by Italian artist Diego Marcon (UK). The animated film ANXIOUS BODY by Japanese filmmaker Yoriko Mizushiri, produced by Miju (F). The short fiction film EL ESPACIO SIDERAL by Sebastián Schjaer (ARG). The short fiction film SIMONE EST PARTIE by Mathilde Chavanne (F).And the cinematic experimental short THE VANDAL by Eddie Alcazar, co-produced by Darren Aronofsky (USA).

Short films screened by the Quinzaine but not part of the Festival Scope selection include SYCORAX by Lois Patiño and Matías Piñeiro (ES/P) and the new film by Peter Tscherkassky TRAIN AGAIN (A).

The 7 short films are available for free everywhere until August 4 – with a few territorial exceptions – but the number of ‘tickets’ is limited, as usual with Festival Scope[1].

Created in 1969 by the SRF (Société des Réalisateurs de Films), the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs/Directors’ Fortnight is a parallel event to the Cannes Film Festival with its own selection but no competition. A distinctive feature is its non-competitive aspect and its ambition to make innovative auteur cinema accessible to non-professional viewers.
