Rushlake Media: Goethe-on-Demand – streaming platform for German films abroad

Cologne-based film distributor Rushlake Media is responsible for the Goethe-Institut’s global VoD offering. On the Goethe on Demand platform, the German cultural institute presents online film programs, film festivals and film series that can be streamed from home.

The films are presented in the original language with subtitles. They are accessible online outside Germany and free of charge after registration. The spectrum ranges from classics to current arthouse films.

In 2022, among other things, each month a film by famous filmmakers with milestone birthdays was offered as “Happy Birthday.” The “Fiktionsbescheinigung” program, with its focus on filmmaking by Black directors and directors of color in Germany, also featured short films. The program with 16 films by curators Enoka Ayemba, Karina Griffith, Jacqueline Nsiah, Biene Pilavci, Can Sungu was created in cooperation with the Berlinale Forum and was first shown on the streaming platform Arsenal 3.

Rushlake Media GmbH is the operator of the streaming platform “Kino on Demand”.
