TikTok, the world’s largest social media platform for short films, announced on March 15 to be an official partner of the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival 2022. To mark the occasion, TikTok is hosting a major global competition for short films called #TikTokShortFilm. From March 15 to April 8, the “community and all film fans” are invited to shoot an original creation in the format of 30 seconds to three minutes[1] and publish it on TikTok.

In a press release, Thierry Frémaux said, “With this collaboration – which is part of a desire to diversify the audience – we’re looking forward to sharing the most exciting and inspiring moments from the Festival and seeing the Festival reimagined through the lens of TikTok creators and its community. We look forward to discovering all this with great eagerness and curiosity.”

In addition to TikTok and Chinese parent company ByteDance, respectively, the Cannes Festival is financially supported by Campari and French luxury goods group Kering (Gucci, Saint Laurent and others) 2022, among others.
