The Festival du Court Métrage in Clermont-Ferrand, for many players in the international short film industry the most important short film festival in the world and with the attached Short Film Market also the most important industry event for short film, is facing tremendous financial problems. On May 12, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Council committee announced plans to reduce its funding by over 50%. A further cut in funding for the organizing organization Sauve qui peut le court métrage is also feared.

This threatens not only the festival and its short film market, but also the year-round activities and, of course, the jobs associated with them.

In an open letter to the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Council, the festival appeals to revise the decision. On the change.org platform, this open letter has already been signed by over 12,000 organizations and individuals (as of May 24, 2023)

The second largest film festival in France after Cannes, is of immense importance, not only for the region, but for the international (short) film scene as a whole.

The AG Kurzfilm has been present at the film market every year since 2003, since 2004 with its own booth. We support the concern of Sauve qui peut le court métrage and call on you to sign the open letter as well.
