For many years – and not just since Corona – voting for the traditional MuVi Prize of the Short Film Festival Oberhausen has been taking place online. 255 music videos were submitted for the competition, twelve were selected to face the judgement of the expert jury and the audience. From 15 April to 15 May, these German music videos will be available for online voting. This is also a foretaste of this year’s festival, which, due to the pandemic, is also only taking place online. The MuVi Online Audience Award is endowed with 500 euros and will be presented during the online edition of the Short Film Festival.

The spectrum ranges from Dietrich Brüggemann’s “Kunst” for Theodor Shitstorm, in which the director also appears as a band member and actor, to Heinz Strunk’s “Abgelaufen” by Roman Schaible, which deals with its own expiration date and ends in an orgy of pensioners with erotic whipped cream, or a retrospective of a youth in the 1980s: Die Goldenen Zitronen in “Das war unsere BRD” by Ariane Andereggen and Ted Gaier to an eerie ride through LA at night – “Sketch Artist” by Loretta Fahrenholz for Kim Gordon.

In addition to the audience award, an international jury will award two prizes worth a total of 3,000 euros.Members of the jury are Max Dax (author, Germany); Adam Harper (author, Great Britain), and Agnese Logina (curator, Latvia).

Until 15 May, all clips will be available on www.muvipreis.de and the websites of the MuVi partners.
