Interview with Marie Zrenner

Marie Zrenner studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and at the École de Recherche Graphique Bruxelles before she began her studies in documentary film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich in 2017. She works as a directress and editor on documentaries, feature films and music videos.

In 2023, she won the German Short Film Award in the category of feature films with a running time of more than 10 minutes and up to 30 minutes with ALEX IN DEN FELDERN (Alex in the Fields).

In the latest episode of Talks’n’Topics, she talks to Luc-Carolin Ziemann about her enjoyment of fiction in documentaries and the importance of trust in documentary film. In addition to the creation process of ALEX IN DEN FELDERN, her earlier works ELEFANTIN (together with Johanna Seggelke) and KATHY AND TERESA are also discussed. And there will be a preview of her latest work VANILLA SKY HABIBI, which will premiere as one of eleven short films in the compilation film ELF MAL MORGEN: BERLINALE MEETS FUSSBALL (Eleven Tomorrows: Berlinale Meets Football) on February 21 as part of a Berlinale Special.
