Subject: Invisible short film

I do so agree!
This school had a short film in competition in Venice but every Australian media report I read or heard said that „unfortunately there are no Australian films in Venice this year“. It was very disappointing for the filmmaker and the school to have made such an invisible film. We also had another AFTRS film accepted into Telluride but again this was never mentioned because Australia had „failed“ to get a feature into this festival.
Australia does have the publication IF (‚Independent Filmmaker‘ but soon to be renamed ‚Inside Film‘). This gives a reasonable amount of space to short films but as the magazine grows in popularity and sophistication, it is giving more and more space to features (even if they are low-budget) at the expense of shorts.
Delighted to see the newsletter.
